"Leveraging Compensation & Benefits in Today’s Labor Market"

The HRA of Greater Oak Brook is hosting a session designed to explore how employers are leveraging compensation & benefits to attract and retain the types of talent needed in the current economy. We believe the current labor market is fundamentally changing the assumptions leaders have about what works.

This session will be presented in an active, thought-provoking and practical way as to what trends are making an impact in 2019 and how to structure your total rewards strategy in order to attract, retain and motivate all types of workers (and sell it to leadership). Come prepared to work and to be inspired and to share with your colleagues in this format where you will have a chance to both listen to expert opinions in short-talk type presentations and to work in groups on practical applications.

Speakers represent Compensation & Survey Analysis, Retirement Plans, Manager of Compensation & Benefits in Non-Profit, and Practice Leader in Global Benefits.

This program is approved for 1.5 PDC's per SHRM and HRCI

 

About Our Speakers

Brendan Nicholls is Vice-President of Employee Benefits Consulting at HUB International, and President of the HRA of Greater Oak Brook. At HUB, Brendan advises middle-market employers on practical ways to optimize their healthcare strategy to increase employee engagement, mitigate future cost increases, and promote a healthier, more productive workforce. Brendan is the incoming 2019 Communications Director for Illinois SHRM and also is the President of the HRA of Greater Oak Brook, local SHRM chapter #212, where he devotes his time and energy to fulfilling his mission is to give back to the HR community and make a positive difference.

Joy

Joy Lynn Hyer, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CCP is the Senior Compensation/Survey Analyst at HR Source in Downers Grove. At HR Source, Joy Lynn consults with clients on job evaluation systems, compensation system design and on using survey data to benchmark compensation practices. Client industries have included health and recreation centers, libraries, manufacturing, professional services in both non-profit and for-profit organizations. Joy Lynn also provides assistance to organizational members of HR Source in human resources via the HR Hotline and administers and analyzes employee engagement surveys.

The Segrust Group founder, Cliff Cadle has created a 6-Step Retirement Plan Process to assist plan sponsors and participants in navigating through the complex retirement process. Cliff has many years of financial advisement experience and serves clients in multiple industries and across the U.S. He comprehensively focuses on addressing the fiduciary details to allow employers to prioritize their business needs. As a 401(k) Plan Specialist, Cliff’s stellar knowledge and ability to provide access to a large variety of investment options, perform as your quarterback in any necessary changes in your 401(k) plan, and continuously give ongoing participant education regarding their investment strategies. Cliff is The 401(k) Guy.

Cheryl Schilling, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CCP is Manager of Compensation & Benefits for Lions Clubs International (LCI), headquartered in Oak Brook, IL, a global NFP service organization with 1.4 million members in over 200 countries. At LCI, Cheryl oversees Payroll, compensation planning and benefits. Prior to LCI, Cheryl was AVP, Participant Services Employee Benefit Outsourcing, for Aon Consulting in Rolling Meadows, IL. She has been a member of HRA since 2007 and served on the board since 2008.
