Similar to “HR,” “digital” and “cyber” touch nearly every facet of today’s enterprises and are therefore intertwined in virtually everything HR. From the enterprise’s technology Acceptable Usage Policy that is (hopefully) put in place with an employee’s onboarding through to off-boarding under whatever circumstances, and likely every bit of malfeasance dreamed of in-between, digital and cyber forensics and investigations are potentially in play every step of the way through every employee’s employment lifecycle.

In this presentation, Keith, the leader of Protek International, a digital forensics and cybersecurity services firm founded in 2005, and a former state prosecutor leading a cyber unit that specialized in targeting the online sexual exploitation of minors, will share what he’s learned in over two decades in the cyber prosecutions and investigations field as it relates to human resource professionals through the below agenda topics:

  1. How Protek sees its services deployed by HR professionals
  2. Examples of what can be discovered through the forensic investigation
    • Mobile devices
    • Traditional computers
    • Network and server systems
    • IoT and other devices
  3. What are the most common impediments to our work
  4. The 5 (Realistic) proactive steps that would most contribute to a successful forensic investigation

Speaker: Keith Chval, Protek International

He’s continued to hone those skills in the private sector over the past decade-plus. Keith is a co-founder of Protek International, Inc., a Chicago-based firm offering world-class electronic discovery, computer forensic, investigative, and advisory services.

He is also an adjunct professor of law at The John Marshall Law School. The course he co-instructs, “eDiscovery, Digital Evidence, and Computer Forensics,” was one of the first such law school courses in the nation, and has been honored by the school with its “Innovation in Teaching” award.
