Who We Are

Founded in 1970, HRA provides professional development and networking opportunities for association members and other human resource professionals, practitioners, consultants, vendors and students. HRA is an association of human resource professionals, representing many business and non-profit organizations. Currently, we serve over 125 individual members and represent over 100 business and non-profit organizations in the greater Oak Brook area and other Chicago-area suburbs.

HRA is managed by an elected Board of Directors, and its purposes are:

  • To provide a medium of exchange for information regarding common problems among local human resources professionals.
  • To advance the understanding of the principles of HR management through educational programs.
  • To encourage the establishment of local human resource professionals

HRA is an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Local Chapter 212.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. Membership in HRA and SHRM is distinct and separate, although HRA members are encouraged to join SHRM for additional information and career development needs.

HRA's student chapter affiliation is with Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois, and known as Elmhurst College Human Resource Association (ECHRA), SHRM Student Chapter #5472.
